Lunch took place at the quiet and serene Antica Osteria. Veronica had been here before with her mother, but loved the food and atmosphere so much that she wanted to go back.
Antica Osteria, Since 1650.
Inside its gates.
The view from my seat!
The menu contains traditional tuscan (and Lucchian!) dishes, including pigeon. I ended up ordering the typical Lucchian pasta with meat sauce (meat = wild boar in this scenario), sharing onion and zucchini pie, and looking at Lily's fried chicken with season vegetables. Yum.
My pasta with wild boar sauce! Yay meat-filled ravioli!
The onion and zucchini pie. The main "pie" aspect was egg. I'm definitely going to try to make this at some point.
Lily's chicken and veggies!
Later we had gelato at gelateria Veneta...definitely go here if you're in Lucca. It was delicious and our guide said it's the best gelato in town. Get it to take away though as it costs much more if you sit down. I got chocolate, tiramisu, peach, and hazelnut!
